Your Gateway to Point au Roche State Park
The lodge’s location is lucky enough to be bordered on three sides by Point au Roche State Park, an 856-acre stretch of forest, marshland, and Lake Champlain shoreline. The park offers more than 12 miles of scenic trails, from gentle wooded paths to loops with sweeping views of the lake. In summer, guests can swim at the sandy beach, launch kayaks or small boats, and explore a nature center with family-friendly programs. In winter, the same trails transform into peaceful routes for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
With the park right across the street and Lake Champlain less than a mile away, step outside and be immersed in nature within minutes.

Ausable Chasm
Open to the public since 1870, Ausable Chasm is one of the oldest natural attractions in North America and a must-see for visitors to the region. Known as the “Grand Canyon of the Adirondacks,” it features dramatic sandstone cliffs, waterfalls, and scenic trails that showcase the chasm’s beauty from every angle. For adventure seekers, activities like rafting, tubing, and rappelling add a dose of thrill, while unique offerings such as lantern tours and gemstone mining make it family-friendly as well.

On the northwestern shoreline of Lake Champlain, Point Au Roche State Park is a hidden gem and haven for nature lovers. Open year-round from sunrise to sunset for hiking, cross-country skiing, and winter snowshoeing, there are 15 miles of easy dog-friendly trails winding through a mix of old-growth forests, serene wetlands, and open areas abounding in wildlife and tranquil views of Lake Champlain.

The 3.3-mile hike on the historic Ranger Trail to the summit of Poke-o-Moonshine Mountain is steep, stair-heavy, and a little challenging, yet incredibly rewarding. The trailhead is located at the dog-friendly Poke-o-Moonshine Day Use Area with picnic tables, fireplaces, and BBQ grills to make a day of it!
